Ochoko (Drinking sake cups)

Janome-Guinomi 12p / Sake Brewery Association Recommendation

OCHOKO is a small cup.
Originally, it is made of pottery, but at present, some are made of glass, wood, etc.

So a small cup is now called ‘OCHOKO’ in spite of its material.

It says the origin of ‘OCHOKO’ is a word ‘choku’for a trifle or  ‘choku’for something easy.

By the way, you know that, GUINOMI which looks just like OCHOKO.

I think many people don’t know the difference of both two.

The origin of ‘GUINOMI’ is from the expression ‘gui tto nomu’ in Japanese;  it means ‘to drink at a gulp’ in English.

The size of GUINOMI is a little bigger than OCHOKO as its name suggests.

OCHOKO is smaller to hold with your fingertips, while GUINOMI is bigger to grab with your palm.

Actually the size and the definition are vague, however, I recommend you to take the one as OCHOKO if it is sold with TOKKURI.
